BigFix to Release Distributed Server Architecture™

Forthcoming Release 7.0 to Support Significant Business Continuity Functions

EMERYVILLE, CA--(Marketwire - September 12, 2007) - BigFix, Inc., a leader in real-time IT security and management solutions for the distributed Enterprise, today announced that significant business continuity enhancements will feature prominently in the version 7.0 release of the award-winning BigFix platform, set for general availability this October. A key functional enhancement of the release is the new BigFix Distributed Server Architecture™ (DSA). DSA significantly enhances the new BigFix platform release with optimized multi-server, distributed fail-over capabilities, enhanced on-the-fly relay configuration, and improved dynamic agent throttling for small footprint environments.

Business continuity is essential for organizations to maintain visibility and control of their critical IT infrastructure in the wake of a major crisis. By incorporating the DSA, BigFix 7.0 implementations will now support automatic synchronization and distributed continuous management across multiple servers even during a disruptive event. Additionally, the optimized relay topology will ensure that each endpoint is automatically paired to a network relay based on location, operating system, and other customer-defined grouping criteria. Dynamic agent throttling will enable fine-grained endpoint resource utilization ensuring client visibility and control even on small footprint environments with minimal contention.

"The number of large enterprises that still do not have strong business continuity plans in place, even after natural disasters such as Katrina, is alarming," said BigFix CTO Amrit Williams. "Given BigFix's Fortune 1000 customer base, we recognized the need to incorporate focused business continuity measures in preparation for disruptive events. With the new features in place, BigFix customers can rest easy knowing their organization is prepared."

In addition to Distributed Server Architecture with optimized multi-server, distributed fail-over capabilities, dynamic agent throttling for small footprint environments, and optimized relay architecture, BigFix 7.0 will provide numerous additional features and performance enhancements including application virtualization benefits, and Security Configuration Management Best Practices to align security controls with the recommendations of industry standards bodies such as NIST, CIS and STIG. Version 7.0 will include self provisioning and customizable user interface, greater speed of communication and improved reporting, as well as other features and performance enhancements.

BigFix platform 7.0, with the new BigFix Distributed Server Architecture, will sell at the current price of $18 per endpoint and will become generally available October 2007.
