"The rapid rise in binge-watching coupled with our increasing need for connecting with others confirms it's the right time for bingee," said Jason Harrison, co-founder, bingee. "Watching your favorite show alone is entertaining, yet watching together doubles the fun factor and deepens the experience."

How bingee works

  • To join an existing bingee, take a look at the upcoming bingee schedule and select a show to watch. Then, when the bingee is set to begin, just start the show on a first screen, like a laptop or TV; and then start bingee on the iPhone or iPad.
  • To initiate a bingee anytime, just follow the simple prompts to set it up.
  • To find out the latest, check the bingee home screen for a personalized view, including bingees scheduled for the day; what friends are watching, Private bingee invitations, and what's hot this week.
  • It's super easy and available at your fingertips, even on the go. Delayed at the airport? Commuting to work on public transportation? In between classes? bingee!

Two ways to bingee
bingee offers two options for group binge-watching: publically with fellow fans or privately with selected friends. bingee customizes connections among bingee users by allowing viewers to connect with fellow fans or with friends. Private bingee allows users to invite people to join invite-only binge-watching sessions through their in-app follower list, through Facebook or Tumblr within the bingee app or via the Apple Share button. To join a Private bingee, users must be invited in-app or must receive and click the Private bingee invite link.

Binge-watching: a growing phenomenon
The way people watch TV and other streaming media content has been transformed, ushering in the era of binge-watching. This phenomenon is sweeping the globe, with the word "binge-watch" earning the 2015 Word of the Year by Collins Dictionary (#collinsWOTY). According to the 2015 Deloitte Digital Democracy Survey, "The rapidly growing amount of content available via the Internet and the proliferation of devices offering high-quality viewing experiences have drastically shifted the way consumers view, access, and purchase content. Streaming services fuel consumers' appetite for bingeing, with two-thirds now binge-watching content." The study found a remarkable 68 percent of millennials binge-watch.

bingee is free and available in English worldwide on the App Store and for Apple Watch.  Let's watch together©.
