Bio-Rad Director Passes Away

HERCULES, CA -- (MARKET WIRE) -- January 4, 2007 -- Bio-Rad Laboratories, Inc. (AMEX: BIO) (AMEX: BIOb), a multinational manufacturer and distributor of life science research and clinical diagnostics products, announced today that a longtime member of its Board of Directors, Philip L. Padou, passed away over the past weekend. He was 72.

Mr. Padou joined Bio-Rad's Board of Directors in 1980. Prior to his retirement in 1991, Mr. Padou served as Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of Ozier Perry and Associates, a risk assessment software and consulting company, following more than 20 years in public accounting.

The company intends to find a suitable replacement for its Board as soon as possible.
