BIOREM Announces Appointment to Board of Directors

GUELPH, ONTARIO--(CCNMatthews - Aug. 25, 2006) -


BIOREM Inc. (TSX VENTURE:BRM) ("BIOREM") is pleased to announce the appointment of Hank Vander Laan to the Board of Directors. Mr. H.J (Hank) Vander Laan founded Trojan Technologies Inc. in 1976, acquiring the patent for a small ultraviolet device for private water supply applications. Building upon that concept he developed a company that is now a global leader in its field with revenues well in excess of $100 million per year. In 2004 Trojan Technologies Inc. (at the time a TSX listed company) was acquired by Danaher Corporation. Mr. Vander Laan has continued to work with Trojan Technologies Inc in the role of Senior Advisor. Prior to founding Trojan Technologies Inc., Mr. Vander Laan was Vice President of Canadian Cable Systems Limited (currently Rogers Cable Systems) from 1969 to 1977, where he was responsible for technical operations and personnel for the largest cable television company in Canada.

BIOREM will benefit from Hank's track record in building a successful company in a related industry and his specific experience in technology development, marketing and distribution of capital equipment to industrial and municipal markets," said Bob Nally, Chairman of the Board of BIOREM. "His extensive network of business partners and associates in the water treatment industry is expected to help BIOREM form strong strategic marketing and sales relationships with multinationals to leverage business opportunities on a local and global basis."

Mr. Vander Laan received his education at the University of Western Ontario and was appointed to the University's Board of Governors in 2002, currently serving as Vice Chair. He also serves on the board of London Biotechnology Center, UWO Research Park and was the Founding Chair of the London TechAlliance. Mr. Vander Laan also served as a board member of the Ontario Government's Clean Water Legacy Trust.
