BIOREM Installs First New Generation Biofilter System

GUELPH, ONTARIO--(CCNMatthews - March 8, 2005) - BIOREM Inc (TSX
VENTURE:BRM) received its first order for the supply of a new generation
SYNERGY™ biofilter system. The energy efficient SYNERGY™
biofilter, will replace an existing thermal oxidation (incineration)
process at a paint manufacturing plant in the Northeast United States
and represents an important advancement of BIOREM's air pollution
control technology.

By introducing this technology, BIOREM sets a new standard in the use of
biofilter application for the elimination of high concentration Volatile
Organic Compounds (VOC's) from complex organic waste air streams. The
SYNERGY™ biofilter system combines the benefits of biofiltration with
the efficiency of adsorption/desorption. "Our SYNERGY™ technology
provides a lost-cost approach to meet increasing regulatory emission
standards," comments Brian Herner, President of BIOREM Inc. "Our client
expects to save $20,000 per month in natural gas by replacing a thermal
oxidizer with our biotechnology based system." he adds.

A pilot demonstration system, utilizing the inorganic/permanent
biofilter media BIOSORBENS™, was installed in the manufacturing
facility. "The SYNERGY™ system is less costly to operate than thermal
incineration and provides a better way to decrease Green House Gas (GHG)
emissions," explains Herner. On the basis of the demonstration results,
a full-scale system for $175,000 was ordered.

This system is significant as it enables facilities in the US to comply
with the Environmental Protection Agency's proposed National Emission
Standards for Hazardous Air Pollutants (NESHAP) and in Canada, with the
Government of Canada's legislation on environmental issues and climate
change. "The SYNERGY™ system provides an excellent fit for industrial
applications since it works well under difficult conditions such as
concentration fluctuations, changing waste air compositions and batch
operations," Herner continues. The award of this project stems from the
creation of BIOREM's Industrial Business Unit in May 2004, established
to target industries with needs for the removal of odor and VOC

BIOREM Inc. manufactures BIOSORBENS™ biofilter media and is a leading
supplier of biofilters for air pollution control in municipal and
industrial applications. With over 100 installed systems and over a
decade of experience, the company's biofilters are the technology of
choice for Wastewater Treatment Plants across North America.
