Biosof LLC Awarded Qualifying Therapeutic Discovery Projects (QTDP) Grant

NEW YORK, NY--(Marketwire - November 9, 2010) -  Biosof LLC, software developer and service provider to the life sciences and health care industries, announced that the Federal government awarded it a grant to support the continuation of the development of Biosof's PubSeq scientific knowledge search engine. The award was made through the Qualifying Therapeutic Discovery Projects Grant Program (QTDP). QTDP grants are being provided under section 48D of the Internal Revenue Code enacted as part of the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act of 2010.

PubSeq is a novel scientific knowledge management system capable of mining the scientific literature for meaningful, accurate and relevant data. PubSeq helps drive genomics, proteomics research by automatically uncovering data from the scientific literature in a manner not possible with computational tools available on the market today.

In 2009, Biosof was awarded a Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) grant from the National Institute of Health to initiate developments of the PubSeq system. "This award helps us extend the capabilities of the software and accelerate the development efforts," said Dr. Burkhard Rost, co-founder of Biosof and head of the Scientific Advisory Board.

Guy Yachdav, Biosof's CEO, noted that the company expects to release a beta version of the PubSeq software by fall of 2011.
