Birim Goldfields Inc.: Drilling Confirms Down Plunge Extension of Gold Mineralization at Chert Ridge

Zone A returns 14 meters at 2.63g/t gold at a vertical depth of 70 meters

MONTREAL, CANADA--(CCNMatthews - April 13, 2007) - Birim Goldfields Inc. (TSX:BGI) ("Birim" or "the Company") is pleased to announce the results from the recently completed drilling program on the Chert Ridge Prospect located on the company's Cluster Property in Ghana. The 10-hole (1,060 meter) program was designed to test the down plunge potential of the higher grade zones defined to date, test between the zones and examine another two targets (Target C and Target D) to the north and south of Zones A and B (see map).

The assay results confirm the down plunge extension of two zones of gold mineralization in the central area of the Chert Ridge prospect (see map). Highlights of the current results include:

- Within Zone A, which has a 220-meter strike extent currently defined - BCC065 intersected 14 meters at 2.63 g/t gold at a vertical depth of approximately 70 meters below surface

- Within Zone B, which has a 500-meter strike extent currently defined - BCC070 intersected 7 meters at 1.01 g/t gold at a vertical depth of approximately 70 meters below surface

The table below highlights the 5 new drill hole assays in context with previous significant intercepts that define Zone A and Zone B. Also included are the results from two trenches and 3 holes drilled on Target C and Target D.

The higher grade and wider zones plunge sub-vertically, with the latest results from Zone A demonstrating continuity of potentially economic intersections down plunge. The nature of the mineralization is that of a number of restricted, elongated and steeply plunging higher-grade zones developed within the plane of a northeast trending persistent shear zone.

Positive results from drilling and trenching on Target C and Target D confirm the continuity of the mineralized structure over a strike length now exceeding 2,200 meters, highlighting the potential for identifying additional steeply plunging higher-grade zones along the full 12 kilometer extent of the Chert Ridge Prospect.

All current samples were analyzed by 50g fire assay with an AAS finish at Transworld Laboratory, located in Tarkwa, Ghana. International certified standard reference materials were inserted into the sample sequence along with blank and duplicate samples. Mr. Beau Nicholls of RSG Global Consulting, a Qualified Person under NI 43-101 standards, has independently verified the drilling, sampling and assay data reported in this release.

Birim Goldfields Inc. is an exploration company focused on the gold potential in Ghana, West Africa and trades on the Toronto Stock Exchange under the symbol BGI.

Notes

1. Drilling:
a. All quoted intersections were drilled using reverse
circulation.
b. All intercept widths are uncorrected due to the use of
reverse circulation..
c. Drilling was generally conducted towards magnetic azimuths
ranging between 310o and 320o and scissor holes were
drilled towards 135o or 140o. Target definition and scout
drill holes were drilled at inclinations of -50o and -45o
respectively.
d. Down hole surveys were performed every 30 meters.
2. Assays:
a. Drill results are for 1m interval riffle split RC samples
and are quoted to 2 decimal places.
b. Laboratory sample preparation comprised of drying and jaw
crushing of a greater than2kg RC sample, followed by
pulverizing of a riffle-split 2kg sub-sample. Samples were
assayed at Transworld Laboratory in Tarkwa, Ghana using 50g
Fire Assay with Atomic Absorption Spectrometry (AAS)
finish.
3. QA/QC:
a. Internationally recognized standard reference materials,
duplicate samples and blank samples were routinely inserted
into the sample sequence on a 5% basis.
b. Birim applies rigorous QA/QC procedures to ensure that the
quality of the sample results plot within acceptable
limits.
