Birst Introduces First Cloud-Based Mobile Business Intelligence SDK for iPad

Enables Application Developers to Securely Embed BI for Apple iPad Quickly and Easily

SAN FRANCISCO, CA--(Marketwire - Nov 15, 2011) - Birst Inc., the leading provider of agile business analytics, today announced an industry first with the availability of its cloud-based Birst Mobile Business Intelligence (BI) Software Development Kit (SDK) for the Apple iPad. The new iOS SDK enables developers to quickly and easily embed highly interactive and visual business analytics powered by Birst into their own iPad applications. Taking advantage of the iPad's unique gesture-based interface, developers can build robust mobile applications that can quickly and easily filter information of interest and drill into more detail on both charts and report tables.

"With all the excitement about a finally usable mobile BI device, organizations still need to invest the bulk of their resources in the 'plumbing layers' of the BI stack, such as the data warehouse, data integration, data quality and the core BI engine," stated Andreas Bitterer at Gartner, Inc. 1

The Birst Mobile SDK allows ISVs to focus on building business intelligence into their applications and bypass the need to address the "plumbing layers." By writing to Birst Mobile APIs, developers can now bypass complicated data integration, quality, and consolidation issues that underpin BI implementations. Developers can rapidly build mobile applications that take advantage of the iPad's capabilities and interface, including:

  • Dashboard exploration via touch and gestures - Birst dashboards for the iPad take full advantage of the tablet's touch-screen interface. Users can intuitively swipe to scroll through report tables and move from one report to the next. Drilling into more details is as simple as tapping on a chart or table of interest.
  • Secure access to any data, on premise or cloud - Birst BI solutions are designed to integrate data from a variety of on-premise and cloud-based sources into a single version of truth. Birst's cloud-based architecture provides the level of mobile access control and data security that the most demanding organizations require.
  • Automation of the analytical data store - Birst automatically compiles a logical business model into a fully optimized star schema data warehouse, making it possible to deploy a solution in a fraction of the time and with a fraction of the resources required using other business intelligence products.

"The Apple iPad has become the tablet device of choice for mobile business applications," said Brad Peters, CEO and Co-Founder of Birst. "The Birst Mobile BI SDK gives ISVs the agility to provide rich analytics and dashboards into their native applications for the iPad quickly and easily."

Birst Mobile BI SDK for the Apple iPad is available immediately. It includes sample code to explore and test its capabilities. For more information, visit www.birst.com/mobile or contact sales@birst.com.
