Bivio Networks Appoints Bob Stevens to Vice President of Federal Sales

Industry Veteran Brings Extensive Federal Sales Experience as the Company Solidifies Market Leadership and Continues Growth in the Government Sector

PLEASANTON, CA--(Marketwire - August 21, 2007) - Bivio Networks, the leader in high-performance network appliance platforms enabling the deployment of wire-speed, deep packet processing applications, today announced that it has appointed Bob Stevens as its vice president of Federal Sales. Stevens will extend Bivio Networks' market leadership position and growth strategy by driving sales initiatives in the government sector. Stevens will leverage his vast networking experience building Juniper Networks' federal systems division to further expand Bivio's customer base of federal and government agencies.

"As threats to the network expand, government IT executives and managers face an increased demand for scalable, deep packet processing and information assurance solutions that can protect and ensure the integrity of individual network infrastructures," said Jim Brear, Bivio's vice president of worldwide sales and customer support. "From his years in the Air Force coupled with his extensive government sales experience while at Juniper Networks, Bob's deep understanding of this transition to deep packet inspection (DPI) networks will be critical as Bivio continues to expand its market share in the government sector."

Bivio's network appliance platforms provide a new level of network capabilities and rack space density for the federal government that cannot be sourced by any other vendor or manufacturer. With the first true 10 gigabit per second deep packet processing solution, Bivio delivers the industry's most powerful DPI capabilities enabling both standard-Linux and custom application development and integration within the widely adopted BiviOS™ networking and management execution environment. Agencies developing and deploying emerging deep packet processing applications such as security, traffic management, application acceleration, VoIP, and mobility solutions can now achieve dramatic increases in performance while significantly reducing their product development costs and time-to-market.

"I was drawn to Bivio for its continued market leadership and product innovation, coupled with their successful government sales track record and impressive growth plans," said Bob Stevens. "I have seen first-hand how difficult it is for government agencies to develop and deploy systems that serve their unique networking and security needs. Bivio's high-performance network appliance platforms deliver maximum flexibility for organizations seeking to implement customized classified as well as open source DPI applications. I am pleased to have joined a team of dedicated professionals delivering a product of such exceptional quality and value."

Stevens arrives at Bivio Networks with 15 years of experience in the telecommunications industry, having most recently served as vice president of federal sales at Juniper Networks. During his tenure at Juniper, Stevens laid the groundwork for the development of Juniper Networks' federal systems division. Prior to that, Stevens spent eight years with Network Equipment Technologies as the regional sales manager for the intelligence team. He was also an engineer in the Air Force, where he served at the White House Communications Agency supervising the installation, operation, and maintenance of communications systems for the president and his staff. Stevens earned his bachelor of science in business management from Southern Vermont College.
