Bivio Networks Launches Application Library

Enables "One-Click" Access to Third Party and Open Source Network Security, Monitoring and Analysis Applications for Deployment on Industry-Leading Deep Packet Inspection Networking Platform

PLEASANTON, CA--(Marketwire - August 11, 2009) - Bivio Networks, the leader in networking systems for deep packet inspection (DPI)-enabled applications and services, today announced the opening of its Application Library. Targeted to government agencies, network service providers, strategic vertical enterprises and channel partners deploying network security, monitoring and analysis solutions, the Bivio Application Library provides customers with "one-click" access and implementation of industry-leading open source networking applications on the Bivio 7000 DPI Application Platform.

"Government agencies, service providers and enterprises are increasingly leveraging open source applications to deploy network security, monitoring and analysis solutions in their networks," said Dr. Elan Amir, president and CEO of Bivio Networks. "With our Application Library, Bivio Networks has completely automated the implementation process and shattered the myth that high performance networking and open source packet processing applications are incompatible."

Globally deployed in mission-critical networks, the Bivio 7000 DPI Application Platform couples application and network processor technology with a standard Linux operating environment, making it uniquely suited to support the deep packet processing demands of open source applications and services. The system also provides 10 Gbps performance with both computational and network scalability.

Applications include a range of security, flow analysis and network optimization software packages, all of which are certified to perform at throughput speeds of up to 10 Gbps on the Bivio 7000 DPI Application Platform, with higher performance available through Bivio's innovative scaling capabilities. The initial set of applications includes:

-- SNORT®, a network intrusion, prevention and detection system that
    combines the benefits of signature, protocol and anomaly-based inspection
    methods;

-- YAF, a network flow recording program that processes packet flows into
    Internet Protocol Flow Information eXport (IPFIX) format for later
    analysis;

-- SiLK, which delivers historic and real-time analysis of network
    traffic;

-- Bro, a network intrusion prevention and detection system that uses
    event-oriented analysis;

-- Arpwatch, which provides alerts on modifications to address resolution
    protocol (ARP) tables;

-- nProbe, a scalable network monitoring architecture that passively
    monitors and collects netflow information on high-speed network links;

--  nTop, a network traffic probe that displays network usage;

-- Squid, a Web caching proxy for HTTP, HTTPS, FTP, and others that
    reduces bandwidth and improves response time;

-- Barnyard, which offloads the output processing task by parsing the
    Snort® unified output format into textual or database alerts;

-- SANCP, which creates network connection and traffic logs for auditing,
    historical analysis and network activity discovery; and

-- TCPdump, an open source tool for capturing and analyzing packets.

Application Library packages are immediately available at www.bivio.net or can be factory installed with purchases of the Bivio 7000 DPI Application Platform.
