BlabberMouth PR President Receives American Diabetes Association's Reaching People Award

The Award Is Presented to Dr. Duana Welch in Recognition of Outstanding Service in Garnering Media Attention for the San Antonio ADA Chapter's Annual America's Walk for Diabetes

SAN ANTONIO, TX and AUSTIN, TX -- (MARKET WIRE) -- January 30, 2007 --BlabberMouth L.P., the only PR firm to offer its clients 100% representation by senior-level practitioners, today announced that its President, Dr. Duana C. Welch, has been honored with the American Diabetes Association's coveted Reaching People award. The award, bestowed for outstanding service in publicizing specific ADA initiatives, was given to Welch in recognition of her ongoing PR endeavors that resulted in substantial media attention for the San Antonio ADA chapter's flagship annual fundraiser to find a cure, the America's Walk for Diabetes. Welch assists the ADA year-round on a pro-bono basis to broadcast its mission among all South Texans; namely, to prevent and cure diabetes and improve the lives of all people affected by diabetes.

The 2006 America's Walk was attended by more than 5,000 individuals and 200-plus volunteers, many of whom learned about the event through Welch's media relations efforts. Stated Elizabeth Tobias, Senior Executive Director for the South Texas and Central Texas Area of the ADA, "This year, walkers and sponsors raised well over $235,000 for the San Antonio America's Walk event, making it one of the nation's most successful fundraisers to find a cure for this disease. It's crystal clear that our Communications Chair, Dr. Duana Welch, made a huge difference in this event's contributions and attendance with media attention, including securing a 10-page San Antonio Express-News supplement, a live show on KENS 5 Great Day SA, and much more."

Stated Patti Hill, CEO and founder of BlabberMouth PR, "Giving back to the community is a core value in our firm, and we are honored that Duana has received this prestigious award for her devotion and results on behalf of the ADA. Duana's passion for communicating the ADA's commitment to fund research, direct persons to needed services and educational information, and provide legal advocacy for all South Texans affected by this disease arises from San Antonian's urgent need to know about diabetes as well as from personal experience."

Continued Hill, "San Antonians are at more than double the risk of diabetes in a nation where more than 7% of individuals already have the disease. And Duana's own daughter has spent three of her five birthdays with diabetes. So we are immensely pleased that the ADA has acknowledged Duana's diligence with their Reaching People award, and I know Duana anticipates continuing her outstanding service to this vital organization."

Concluded Tobias, "We selected BlabberMouth because we seek to enhance South Texans' awareness of diabetes, its dangers, its manageability, and the fact that monies are needed if a cure is to be found. We host events throughout the year geared towards raising funds for our initiatives, and in San Antonio, for every dollar raised, three dollars return to help fund the $2.5 million in research commitments being conducted locally. Duana's expert representation and steadfast devotion to our cause add up to a public relations campaign that is professional, efficiently run, and best of all, extremely effective in garnering the news coverage we need in order to reach all the region's people who have, and are at risk for, diabetes."
