The Black Alliance for Educational Options (BAEO) Congratulates Senator Cory Booker on His Win in the New Jersey Senate Race

WASHINGTON, DC--(Marketwired - October 17, 2013) - The Black Alliance for Educational Options (BAEO) congratulates Senator Cory Booker on his historic win yesterday in the Senate race in New Jersey. Senator Booker is a former Board member of BAEO.

"As a BAEO board member Cory was instrumental in helping us create change for Black families across this country by advocating for their right to have access to a high-quality education," said Howard Fuller, Board Chair of BAEO. "We congratulate Cory on his win in yesterday's Senate race and look forward to seeing him continuing his work for the people in Washington."

Booker defeated Republican Steve Lonegan, former Mayor of Bogota, New Jersey, in a special election.

"BAEO congratulates and supports Cory and his work for the people of New Jersey and Black families across this country in the education reform movement and we will continue to do so," said Kenneth Campbell, President of BAEO.

BAEO is an advocacy organization whose mission is to increase access to high-quality educational options for Black children by actively supporting transformational education reform initiatives and parental choice policies that empower low-income and working-class Black families. BAEO champions parental choice policies and programs that serve low-income and working-class Black families, but is equally focused on promoting quality to ensure that Black students have access to high-performing schools. BAEO envisions a future where low-income and working-class Black families are empowered to choose a high-quality primary and secondary education for their children that enable them to pursue the college or career path of their choice, become economically independent adults, and engage in the practice of freedom.

The mission of the Black Alliance for Educational Options is to increase access to high quality education options for Black children by actively supporting transformational education reform initiatives and parental choice policies that empower low-income and working-class Black families.
