Black Lotus Partners With CoreSite to Further Protect Against Record-Breaking DDoS, DrDoS Attacks

Black Lotus Joins CoreSite Open Cloud Exchange; Provides West Coast Data Center Customers Low-Latency DDoS Mitigation

SAN FRANCISCO, CA--(Marketwired - Mar 24, 2014) - Black Lotus, a leader in availability security and provider of distributed denial of service (DDoS) protection, today announced it has deployed a new scrubbing center with CoreSite Realty Corporation (CoreSite), a provider of secure, reliable, high-performance data center solutions. CoreSite's platform is one of the world's most developed customer ecosystems, serving more than 375 customers in 575,000 square feet of enterprise-class data center space. This partnership allows Black Lotus to provide additional protection through a tier-one, highly available mitigation network for the Los Angeles market, ensuring customers avoid revenue losses from large DDoS outages.

Prior to the benchmark Spamhaus attack, DDoS traffic volume had not exceeded 100 gigabytes per second (Gbps). But, the growing popularity of distributed reflection denial of service (DrDoS) attack exploitations, such as of the NTP protocol, has resulted in record-breaking attacks exceeding 400 Gbps. Black Lotus has added capacity at CoreSite's One Wilshire campus to ensure DDoS protection for customers without suffering downtime. Additionally, Black Lotus' end-to-end mitigation services are available on CoreSite's Open Cloud Exchange ecosystem and its Any2 Internet Exchange, which is the largest Internet exchange on the West Coast and second largest in the United States. The partnership adds more than 1600 Gbps of core network interconnect and more than 400 Gbps of network edge transit and peering, ensuring customers can leverage quality bandwidth and rapid return of clean traffic to its destination.
