Black Press to Acquire Akron Beacon Journal

TORONTO, ONTARIO--(CCNMatthews - June 7, 2006) - Black Press Limited, a privately owned and operated company in which Torstar Corporation (TSX:TS.B) has a 19.35% interest, announced it has agreed to acquire the Akron Beacon Journal, the daily newspaper in Akron, Ohio. The purchase price is $165 million U.S. which will be financed internally by Black Press.
