Black Star Beer Announces Black Star Beer Sessions: The Pursuit and Support of Creativity

Black Star Beer Goes Behind the Scenes With Up & Coming Rock N Roll Band J Roddy Walston and The Business

SAN FRANCISCO, CA--(Marketwire - September 14, 2010) - On September 14, Black Star Beer (http://blackstarbeer.com/) the double hopped golden lager from Whitefish, Montana, will launch the Black Star Beer Sessions, an in-depth presentation of talented people and the art motivated by their creative process. The first Session will feature J Roddy Walston and The Business, (http://jroddywalstonandthebusiness.com) with exclusive performances from the hometown release show of their new self-titled album (Fairfax Recordings/Vagrant), as well as personal interviews of the band members discussing the values, energy and passion behind their music. Black Star Beer captured them during an impromptu performance on the street, in the green room before the show and throughout their post-show festivities.

On Saturday, July 31, Black Star Beer traveled to Baltimore, Maryland to support J Roddy Walston and The Business to capture the raw, energetic music of this much enjoyed, hard working rock n roll band. Black Star Beer's film crew spent a day with the quartet: J Roddy Walston (vocals, piano, guitar), Billy Gordon (guitar, vocals), Steve Colmus (drums) and Logan Davis (bass, vocals). The crew partied at their hometown's Ottobar venue, playing to a sold-out, raucous crowd who has supported J Roddy Walston and The Business from the beginning.

"While we were looking for music for the Great American Road Trip (http://bit.ly/blackstarroadtrip), someone in the office found a J Roddy (http://www.facebook.com/jroddywalston) track called Brave Man's Death. It was so explosive we searched for more J Roddy tunes, found a full version of their album online and played it over and over again. Their music was on repeat for weeks," said Minott Wessinger, fifth generation brewer and founder of Black Star Beer. "We thought it was a great fit: an up and coming brand with humble beginnings, supporting an emerging band on the verge of sweeping the country. They embody the spirit of Black Star. Hometown, homegrown, good people, great energy and a drive to share their message with the world."

The Black Star Beer Sessions' revealing look at J Roddy Walston and The Business helps demonstrate just how enthusiastic Black Star is about discovering and creating relevant entertainment for their fans. "We enjoy sharing interesting, original, and entertaining content with the Black Star community," said Minott. "We don't always have to talk about beer."

The Black Star Beer Sessions kick off September 14th with an insider's exclusive behind the scenes look into the band, J Roddy Walston and The Business. Fans can visit Black Star Beer's Facebook page for first look at exclusive footage of three live performances of the band at Ottobar. The first song Black Star recorded during the album release concert, "Don't Break the Needle," will be released on September 20th, 2010. For a list of release dates and to view the documentary on J Roddy Walston and The Business, check back with Black Star Beer.

About Black Star Beer
15 years ago, Minott Wessinger, 5th generation brewer, chose to build a brewery in Whitefish, MT. He saw it as a fantastic place to create exceptional beer. Black Star is a double hopped golden lager. By hopping our beer in the kettle, and then again before finishing, Black Star opens up with a distinctive hoppy aroma and a rich, full bodied flavor. All this while remaining remarkably crisp, light and refreshing.
