OVERLAND PARK, KS--(Marketwired - October 20, 2016) - Black & Veatch, a global leader in the design and construction of water and wastewater conveyance infrastructure, has named Lorne Emery as Systems Rehabilitation Leader within its water business. Based in Toronto, Emery will work with clients throughout North America as they plan and execute improvements to aging linear water infrastructure systems.
Emery's appointment comes as municipalities across North America are working to address stresses to their systems including changing populations and consumer habits, compliance with environmental regulations related to sewer overflow, and maintaining quality service for customers. Emery has nearly 30 years of experience managing complex infrastructure projects in North America. As a certified Project Management Professional, he will help communities develop integrated infrastructure rehabilitation programs and spot repairs to cost effectively rehabilitate high-risk assets.
"Water and wastewater utilities across North America are facing complex rehabilitation and replacement decisions," said David Egger, Black & Veatch Senior Vice President and Managing Director of Infrastructure Systems and Programs. "Lorne has executed numerous infrastructure projects balancing service levels, risk issues, community impacts and long-term operational goals. His ability to lead projects, from planning through asset management and program management, and provide technical guidance will help communities to get the most out of their infrastructure investments."
Emery specializes in wastewater conveyance projects involving trenchless technology and open-cut construction methods, including subsurface utility engineering and relocation. Trenchless technology is increasingly used to complete projects in densely populated areas or other restricted work zones. He also has worked in a management or leadership role on projects involving combined sewer overflows (CSO) and deep rock tunnels, sanitary sewers and condition assessment, as well as cleaning and rehabilitation. His experience encompasses traditional financing and design-build solutions.
