Blackboard Appoints New Consulting Team Members

Demetra Katsifli of Kingston University and Lynda Masterman of HarvestRoad Join Blackboard Consulting

WASHINGTON, DC -- (MARKET WIRE) -- August 29, 2005 -- Blackboard Inc. (NASDAQ: BBBB), a leading provider of e-Learning software and services for academic institutions, has appointed two new members of the Blackboard Consulting Group. Demetra Katsifli joins as Principal Consultant for the Blackboard Consulting Group, in the United Kingdom from Kingston University in London. Lynda Masterman joins as a Senior Project Manager for the Blackboard Consulting Group in the Asia Pacific region from HarvestRoad. Ms. Katsifli and Ms. Masterman each bring more than a decade of experience working with education and technology. They will apply their industry-specific experience to help Blackboard clients in the United Kingdom and the Asia Pacific region, respectively, maximize the value of their e-Learning initiatives.

Blackboard is used by hundreds of higher education and K-12 schools across the United Kingdom and Asia Pacific region for e-Learning initiatives.

Ms. Katsifli will utilize both her academic experience and the Blackboard consulting methodology to bring best of breed solutions to the United Kingdom client base. She joins Blackboard from Kingston University in London where she served as Head of Academic ICT Services. Ms. Katsifli is qualified in Mathematics and Computer Science, and has carried out research in computer aided learning in numerical analysis for undergraduate students (as part of her PhD). In the last six years, she has held a leading strategic role in the development of Kingston's Learning Management System; responsible for the implementation of one of the UK's first and most robust integrated e-Learning systems (using Blackboard and integrating it with student records, personnel data and Novell to achieve a true managed learning environment).

Lynda Masterman; Blackboard Consulting Group Senior Project Manager

Ms. Masterman joins Blackboard from HarvestRoad where she served as General Manager Business Services for over 5 years. As GM Business Services, Ms. Masterman managed the installation, training, product support and project management for HarvestRoad's Content Management System. Prior to that, Ms. Masterman managed the production of all projects at PRISM Interactive, a multimedia development company she co-founded, and was purchased by HarvestRoad in 1999. With more than 12-years experience in the education environment including teaching, consulting and development of online courses, Ms. Masterman brings a wealth of knowledge about the use of Learning Management Systems and Content Management Systems within the education sector. She has worked with a variety of Learning Management Systems serving as the Project Manager for online course development and in her capacity as GM Business Services for HarvestRoad's Content Management System. Ms. Masterman holds a Masters degree in Education and Degrees in Information Science and Interactive Multimedia from Edith Cowan University, Western Australia.
