BLADE Network Technologies Perfects 10 Gigabit Ethernet for IBM and Verari as HPC Comes to Main Street in 2009

SANTA CLARA, CA--(Marketwire - November 14, 2008) - BLADE Network Technologies, Inc. (BLADE), the industry leader in network virtualization and high-performance solutions for servers and storage, will showcase its top-of-rack RackSwitch 10 Gigabit Ethernet data center switch products and its unique approach to Rackonomics at the 20th annual SC 08, the premier international conference for high performance computing to be held next week in Austin, Texas.

Rackonomics is a new set of rules to define rack-level provisioning that enables data centers managers to design, deploy and replicate one rack -- or multiple racks -- at a time to quickly and cost-effectively scale out data centers as needed.

BLADE at SC08, Booth #322

At SC08, BLADE will announce that its top-of-rack, 10 Gigabit Ethernet RackSwitch products have been providing superior cooling, low latency and price/performance advantages for IBM System Cluster 1350 and IBM's new System x iDataPlex which will be showcased in booth #522.

Verari will showcase at SC08 in booth #909 its new NB1010 Series BladeSwitch that was jointly developed by BLADE and Verari Systems.

Also at SC08, Dan Tuchler, BLADE's vice president of strategy and product management, will present "10G Ethernet -- Ready for Major Breakthrough in 2009 for HPC Environments" on Wednesday, Nov. 19 at 10:30 a.m., Room 12A/12B. The talk includes competitive benchmarks results from well-known high performance computing (HPC) applications and trends in interconnect technologies within the top compute clusters.

About BLADE's HPC-class RackSwitch

BLADE's High Performance Computing (HPC)-class RackSwitch 10 and 1:10 Gigabit Ethernet products demonstrate considerably better latency, throughput, energy efficiency and price/performance compared with comparable Cisco Catalyst data center switches. According to independent evaluations performed by The Tolly Group, BLADE's RackSwitch G8100 low latency switch with 24 - 10 Gigabit Ethernet ports outperforms a Cisco Catalyst 4900M by:

-- Demonstrating 12.4x less latency
-- Sustaining line-rate throughput for all frame sizes, while the
Catalyst 4900M achieves only 49.7 percent of the theoretical maximum
-- Consuming 73 percent less energy
-- Exhibiting 6.5x better price/performance

BLADE's RackSwitch G8000 1/10GbE aggregation switch offers similar advantages over Cisco's 4948-10GE Switch. The full summaries of the competitive performance evaluations are available at:
