BLADE Network Technologies' VMready Switches Support Oracle VM and Oracle Linux With Virtual Machine-Aware Networking Across the Entire Data Center

SANTA CLARA, CA--(Marketwire - September 20, 2010) -  BLADE Network Technologies, Inc. (BLADE), the data center switching and virtualization company, and member of the Oracle PartnerNetwork, announced today that its VMready™ Ethernet switches support the latest release of Oracle® VM server virtualization software and Oracle Linux software. VMready with Virtual Vision preserves security, performance and access policies as Virtual Machines migrate from server to server across the data center. BLADE's VMready is the first and only Virtual Machine-aware networking solution that works natively on the physical Ethernet switch without requiring proprietary packet tagging or an expensive overhaul of the virtualization environment.

Available as a free download, Oracle VM server virtualization software is part of Oracle's complete desktop to datacenter virtualization portfolio of products, and fully supports both Oracle and non-Oracle applications, while delivering higher efficiency and performance than other virtualization solutions. Oracle VM enables enterprise applications to be easily deployed, managed and supported while reducing costs and increasing IT efficiency and agility.

Free to download and use, Oracle Linux is open source software that is fully compatible with Red Hat Enterprise Linux.

BLADE's VMready with Virtual Vision enables enterprise data centers to deploy Virtual Machine-aware networks that are massively scalable, non-disruptive, open and work with all leading hypervisors, including Oracle VM. BLADE's VMready is compatible with all server operating systems and enables data centers to take full advantage of Oracle Linux.

BLADE's VMready switches discover and track VMs in the network, enable VM-to-VM traffic switching and allow per-VM policy enforcement. BLADE's VMready switches address the primary drawbacks of limited scalability, vendor lock-in and infrastructure disruption that until now have hampered widespread adoption of virtualization for production application environments and inhibited the use of virtualization mobility technologies.

"Providing greater performance and reliability for enterprise applications, coupled with excellent customer support and product integration, Oracle VM and Oracle Linux offer significant customer value," said Wim Coekaerts, senior vice president of Linux and Virtualization Engineering, Oracle. "Together with BLADE Network Technologies, we expect to deliver an even more comprehensive server virtualization solution for our joint customers."

"BLADE Network Technologies believes that 2010 is the year of the VM-aware network as enterprises move to revamp their data centers with VM mobility and 10 Gigabit Ethernet to prepare for massive virtualization," said Dan Tuchler, vice president of Product Management, BLADE Network Technologies. "BLADE's VMready enables innovative solutions for data center managers to seamlessly manage networking for leading virtual server solutions such as Oracle VM."

BLADE's VMready is a key element of BLADE's Unified FabricArchitecture™ (UFA), which provides a faster, virtual, interoperable and proven data center Ethernet networking platform that allows customers to tie together best-of-breed servers, storage, hypervisors and core networking systems. BLADE's UFA products are designed to significantly reduce the cost and complexity of deploying physical and virtual data center infrastructure.
