Blazent Joins the Distributed Management Task Force to Become Active Participant in the Software License Management Incubator

Company's Expertise in Software Inventory and IT Asset Management Will Contribute to Addressing Challenges of Managing Software Licenses in Cloud and Virtual Environments

SAN MATEO, CA--(Marketwire - Apr 12, 2011) - Blazent, the leader in IT Outsourcing Governance, has been accepted as a Participating Member in the Distributed Management Task Force (DMTF), with particular interest in helping address industry challenges in managing software licenses and IT assets in today's cloud and virtual environments through involvement with the Software License Management (SLM) Incubator.

DMTF, www.dmtf.org, is the organization bringing the IT industry together to collaborate on systems management standards development, validation, promotion and adoption. The group spans the industry with 160 member companies and organizations, and more than 4,000 active participants crossing 43 countries.

"DMTF is pleased to welcome Blazent to our core of industry-leading member companies," says Winston Bumpus, DMTF President. "Their presence as a leader in IT Outsourcing Governance provides unique value to our organization, particularly as a participant in our Software License Management (SLM) Incubator."

The SLM Incubator was created to address the lack of standards for managing software product licenses and product usage in cloud and virtual environments. The SLM Incubator has been chartered to produce recommendations to overcome these challenges and create standard models for interoperability that will give customers better visibility into their IT operations.

Blazent joins leading technology companies including CA Technologies, Citrix Systems, IBM, Microsoft Corporation, Novell and VMware in participating in the SLM Incubator, along with representatives from companies across many industry verticals and academia that use and manage software products.

"Virtualization and cloud computing have opened new doors for organizations of all sizes to increase the flexibility and agility of their IT operations, however managing these environments adds additional complexities and new challenges," said Howard Hastings, senior director of products and marketing for Blazent and past co-chair of the DMTF SLM Incubator. "I believe Blazent's experience with properly identifying and managing software in some of the world's largest and most diverse environments will contribute greatly to the SLM Incubator's efforts."
