Bleacher Report and Hearst Newspapers Partner to Publish Local Sports Editions

Co-Branded Local Editions Will Feature Original Opinion and Analysis From Bleacher Report's Community of Writers

SAN FRANCISCO, CA--(Marketwire - February 23, 2010) -  Bleacher Report, the Web's largest sports network powered by citizen sportswriters, and Hearst Newspapers are partnering to introduce online Local Editions of Bleacher Report in Hearst Newspapers' four largest markets, both companies announced today.

The co-branded Local Editions will be presented as part of the overall sports coverage from the San Francisco Chronicle's SFGate.com, Houston Chronicle's Chron.com, San Antonio Express-News' MySanAntonio.com and SeattlePI.com. These four cities represent the largest sports markets in Hearst Newspapers' expansive network of media properties. The Local Editions will feature original Bleacher Report articles as well as aggregated content from across the Web, providing unmatched depth and breadth of local sports coverage for fans in these markets.

"Bleacher Report's publishing platform provides a powerful way to serve our readers quality, original content that complements our own coverage," said Stephen Weis, executive vice president of the Houston Chronicle, and general manager of Chron.com. "Working with Bleacher Report, we're able to reach out to local fans and add a variety of viewpoints on each of the day's sports stories that matters most to our readers in their home markets."

With the partnership, an additional 7.3 million readers will have access to Bleacher Report articles, opinion and analysis. The Local Editions provide Hearst and local advertisers additional opportunities to reach a highly engaged, targeted audience. Hearst now joins sports media outlets such as CBSSports.com, FoxSports.com and SportsIllustrated.com as syndication partners of Bleacher Report.

"Bleacher Report Local Editions leverage our unique ability to create content tailor made to fans' interests and build engagement among the local sports audiences on our partner sites," said Dave Finocchio, cofounder and VP of content at Bleacher Report. "Local Editions also help advertisers in these cities to reach one of the most engaged audiences out there: passionate local fans."

In addition to being showcased on the Local Edition, Bleacher Report content will also be highlighted on the main sports pages of each Hearst Newspapers site. Sports fans are encouraged to visit Bleacher Report Local Editions at Bleacher Report: Houston, Bleacher Report: San Francisco and Bleacher Report: Seattle. Bleacher Report: San Antonio will launch in Q1 2010.
