BLiNQ Networks Launches Solution to Rapidly Scale Mobile Data Networks

Intelligent Self-Organizing NLOS Wireless Backhaul System Extends the Life of 3G Network Investments

BARCELONA, SPAIN--(Marketwire - February 14, 2011) - BLiNQ Networks Inc. today announced a non-line-of-sight, mobile backhaul system that fundamentally changes the way wireless operators deliver mobile broadband services in urban areas. BLiNQ's solution is designed to provide operators with a highly flexible, cost effective, and self-organizing system to meet the mobile backhaul demand created by the rapid growth of smart mobile devices and the mobile Internet. Wireless operators are now able to easily and cost-effectively double network capacity to deliver an optimum mobile user experience while extending the life of their 3G investment and migrating to LTE and 4G.

According to the Cisco Visual Networking Index Global Mobile Data Traffic Forecast for 2010 to 2015, worldwide mobile data traffic is expected to see a 26-fold increase between 2010 and 2015 as the use of smart phones, tablets and the consumption for mobile video drive data consumption. Because of the rapid increase in demand, cell sites in urban environments are reaching their capacity creating coverage dead zones and capacity hotspots. Operators cannot scale urban cell sites rapidly or cost-effectively. Current fiber solutions are too expensive to implement and microwave may not be feasible in all locations.

BLiNQ's plug and play solution consists of a Backhaul Hub and Remote Backhaul Modules. The solution uses cost-effective sub-6 GHz TDD spectrum and unique and patent-pending Managed Adaptive Resource Allocation (MARA) technology to provide network-level intelligence, self-organizing network capabilities, and eliminates interference challenges to maximize spectral efficiency. This plug and play, intelligent solution significantly reduces the reliance on costly fiber, decreases the need for expensive site surveys, eliminates long installation procedures, and cuts total cost of ownership in half.
