BELMONT, CA--(Marketwire - Jan 4, 2012) - BlogHer, Inc., the premium cross-platform media network and publisher for women, announced today the second annual BlogHer Entrepreneurs Conference, taking place March 22-23, 2012 in Silicon Valley, and made possible by host sponsor, Citrix Systems, Inc.
With attendance limited to 100 entrepreneurs, intrapreneurs and business owners in the technology and media space, an integral, unique part of BlogHer Entrepreneurs will again be one-on-one mentorship between each attendee and one of 50 senior industry leaders. Each attendee will be matched to a mentor who will spend an hour reviewing her business plan and goals. The conference kicks off with an intensive skills workshop, focused on maximizing the learning and networking opportunities to follow during the event.
"BlogHer's inaugural entrepreneurial event in 2011 served as a catalyst for many attendees and was exactly the game-changer we hoped to create," said Elisa Camahort Page, Jory Des Jardins and Lisa Stone, BlogHer co-founders. "We thank our 2012 mentors and the team at Citrix for hosting BlogHer Entrepreneurs '12 and the next wave of women entrepreneurs."
"Citrix technology allows people to work and play from anywhere, and that flexibility has not only helped spark new ideas for entrepreneurs, but also enabled them to accelerate new business ideas," said Catherine Courage, vice president, Product Design, Citrix. "We expect BlogHer Entrepreneurs '12 at the Citrix Conference Center in Silicon Valley to be a great two days that will foster further innovation and inspiration among entrepreneurial women."
2011 attendee Angélica Pérez, Publisher and CEO of NewLatina.net, called BlogHer Entrepreneurs "the most empowering, instructive and inspiring conference I have ever participated in. The opportunity to present my business idea to a successful businesswoman and mentor was the highlight of the conference, not to mention the information-packed presentations, the excellent networking and the business tools and resources I took home with me. It was a 2-day mini-MBA for sure!"
Fellow attendee and founder of mobile app start-up GLMPS, Esther Crawford, agreed, saying, "As a first time founder of a mobile app, BlogHer Entrepreneurs inspired and informed me at a critical juncture in my startup's life - the experience there ultimately led to our decision to launch at BlogHer '11 where thousands of the web's most influential women became our first users."
The full agenda for BlogHer Entrepreneurs will be announced in January. Mentors from last year's event included venture capitalists and angels, such as Heidi Roizen and Ann Winblad; entrepreneurs, such as Sandy Jen and Kim Polese; corporate business leaders, such as Janet Riccio and Megan Smith; and industry media and analysts such as Moira Forbes and Charlene Li.
Mentors found the conference experience as rewarding as attendees, with Ms. Roizen stating, "The BlogHer conference was an incredible gathering of women helping women change the world -- one startup, one product, one blog at a time. I met some amazing people there and look forward to doing so again in 2012!"
