On November 17th, Toronto's premier shopping/dining neighbourhood will transform itself for the holiday season with its Official Lighting Ceremony to kick off Bloor-Yorkville's Holiday Magic Event.

A spectacular thirty-two foot Christmas tree covered in sparkling white lights comes to life in the Village of Yorkville Park. Adding to the magic are animated storefront windows, park trees decked in traditional red and white lights, and light poles with hanging baskets glowing with twinkling-twigs and winter greens. Holiday wreaths line the quaint neighbourhood streets.

This year's Official Lighting Ceremony welcomes special guest, CTV Corner Gas star Tara Spencer-Nairn and high-flying cirque artists, "the Aerial Angels."

Place: Village of Yorkville Park (Cumberland and Bellair)
Time: 4:30 p.m. - Welcome
4:45 p.m. - Performance by The Aerial Angels
5:15 p.m. - Official lighting 'flick on' with special guest,
Tara Spencer-Nairn
5:30 p.m. - Ceremony concludes

All lighting for Bloor-Yorkville's Holiday Magic Event is done with energy-efficient LED lighting. Visitors can get in the energy-efficient spirit and receive a new LED string of lights from Toronto hydro in exchange for two strands of incandescent lights.

Cash and cheque donations for the Daily Bread Food Bank are welcomed. Whole Foods will distribute complimentary hot beverages and refreshments to holiday revelers.

Interviews can be arranged with Briar de Lange, Bloor-Yorkville Business Improvement Area Manager and Tara Spencer-Nairn. Full event details for Bloor-Yorkville's Holiday Magic can be found at
