Blue Coat Leads Worldwide Content Security Gateway Appliance Market

Market Leader for Five Consecutive Years

SUNNYVALE, CA--(Marketwire - March 15, 2011) -  Blue Coat Systems, Inc. (NASDAQ: BCSI), a leading provider of Web security and WAN optimization solutions, today announced that it was the market leader in Content Security Gateway Appliances in 2010, according to the latest report from Infonetics Research. Blue Coat has been the market leader every year since 2006, when Infonetics first began reporting market share numbers for Content Security Gateway appliances.

In the combined region of Europe, the Middle East and Africa (EMEA), Blue Coat had 35.7 percent market share, nearly double that of its nearest competitor. Blue Coat also held nearly twice as much market share as its nearest competitor in Central and Latin America (CALA) with 32.6 percent of the market. 

Infonetics forecasts that the worldwide Content Security Gateway Appliance market will grow 31 percent, from $1.6 billion in 2010, to $2.1 billion in 2014, and that the EMEA market will grow 30 percent, from $354 million in 2010, to $459 million in 2014. The research firm predicts that the CALA market will grow 31 percent from $42 million in 2010 to $54.7 million in 2014.
