Blue Jeans Network Takes Sundance Film Festival Primetime

First Fully Interactive Video Events Service Extends the World Renowned Sundance Festival's Reach, Powering the Future of Film; Sundance Filmmakers Tap Into a Global Audience to Promote Films, Connect With Fans and Share Stories

MOUNTAIN VIEW, CA and PARK CITY, UT--(Marketwired - Jan 23, 2015) - Blue Jeans Network, the global leader in cloud-based video collaboration services, today announced its participation in this year's Sundance Film Festival to enhance attendee engagement and offer, for the first time ever, active video participation for remote audiences. Blue Jeans Network's platform, including its new interactive online events service Blue Jeans Primetime, will connect thousands of film enthusiasts to Festival events and provide filmmakers a new channel and broader reach for marketing their movies through large-scale broadcasting and video collaboration.

"For ten days each year, The Sundance Film Festival is at the center of the entertainment world as great minds meet to show, tell, and share their stories. Blue Jeans is excited to be extending the reach of this iconic event beyond the borders of Park City, to amplify the powerful stories being told and to engage new and important audiences in the conversation," said Stu Aaron, CCO at Blue Jeans Network. "Our aim is to help usher in the new era of digital entertainment by making the film viewing experience more immersive and interactive than ever before. Now Sundance filmmakers can promote their films and share their stories with global audiences bringing film fans everywhere the chance to experience some of the Sundance Film Festival magic in an interactive setting."

"We want to create unique experiences for our community that are not able to make it to the Sundance Film Festival. This new Blue Jeans technology provides a platform to invite remote attendees into thought-provoking conversations in new and more interactive ways," said Justin Simmons, Associate Director of Technology Services for the Sundance Institute.

Blue Jeans Primetime gives multiple presenters the power to broadcast their message to large remote audiences and to allow members of those audiences to virtually raise their hand to switch from passive observers to active video participants in real time for face-to-face discussion, feedback, and Q&A. Blue Jeans will host multiple venues at which attendees, filmmakers and industry professionals can learn about and use Blue Jeans technology. Here are the key ways the Sundance Festival is going Primetime with Blue Jeans Network:

Blue Jeans Primetime's Advance Screening
Blue Jeans Primetime will hold an advance screening of the highly anticipated world premiere of "Most Likely to Succeed," a documentary that follows students, teachers and parents at San Diego's High Tech High, which rethinks what it means to be an educated young adult prepared for the 21st century. On Jan. 26, the Sundance Film Festival will be holding an advance screening from Park City to High Tech High for the students, parents and teachers to get a first look at the film. Blue Jeans Primetime will allow viewers to join in a conversation with the film's director and the student stars in real time following the film screening.

Blue Jeans Primetime Panel: Making Movies More than Film: Marketing to the Modern Audience
Blue Jeans will be hosting and broadcasting an interactive panel on Jan. 28 in order to bring great minds together on the topic of marketing film to the modern audience. The traditional movie marketing playbook is being rewritten as the film industry experiments with ever-new marketing and distribution strategies, from the digital-only release of the critically acclaimed movie "Snowpiercer," to the unexpected release strategy for the recent movie "The Interview." In this Blue Jeans panel, executives from Sundance TV and brands like NYLMedia, Pulpo/An Entravision Company and others, will discuss what we can expect to see in film marketing and distribution in the coming years. To request more information on the panel, contact: PrimetimeSundance@bluejeans.com
