Blue Line Magazine: 2010 Police Leader of the Year to Accept Award

MARKHAM, ONTARIO--(Marketwire - April 25, 2011) - John Harris, a 38-year veteran of the Hamilton Police Service, will be recognized as Police Leader of the Year and receive the Blue Line Police Leadership Award at a special ceremony on April 26 at the LeParc Conference Centre in Markham, 8432 Leslie Street. The presentation event, at 4:30 PM, will be made in conjunction with the Blue Line Trade Show.

"The award recognizes and encourages a standard of excellence exemplifying 'Leadership as an Activity, not a Position,' and pride in service to the public," said Blue Line Magazine Publisher Morley Lymburner.

"Its goal is to increase the effectiveness, influence and quality of Canadian police situational leadership from both an organizational and community perspective."

Harris epitomizes the best qualities of leadership in police work, the judges concluded. "He has overcome physical adversity with an admirable tenacity and has demonstrated exemplary leadership qualities to his co-workers and community throughout his career," said Lymburner.

The award ceremony will be the highlight of the first day of the annual Blue Line Trade Show. This event, in its 16th year, brings together products, services and innovation related to the police and law enforcement field. The show floor will have around 70 companies displaying their goods and services.

Special guest speakers at the award ceremony will be Hamilton Police Chief, Glenn De Caire and former Peel Regional Police Chief Robert Lunney.
