Blue Ocean Mariculture Announces Immediate Availability of Hawaiian Kampachi(TM) Throughout US and Hawaii

KONA, HI--(Marketwire - Jun 12, 2012) - Blue Ocean Mariculture (www.bofish.com), today announced the immediate availability of Hawaiian Kampachi™ throughout Hawaii and the U.S. mainland. Blue Ocean began harvesting its first internally produced cohort of premium, sashimi-grade Hawaiian Kampachi™ in May 2012 and initial market response has been excellent.

Blue Ocean recently announced it had completed the acquisition of the hatchery and offshore mariculture assets of Kona Blue Water Farms. This was the final step in Blue Ocean Mariculture's transition to becoming the exclusive producer of the Hawaiian Kampachi™.

Hawaiian Kampachi™, also known as Kahala or Almaco Jack, is hatched from locally caught brood fish and grown to market size in the clear, offshore waters of Kona, Hawaii. The fish is chilled and processed immediately upon harvest to ensure the highest quality. Recognized for its clean, rich taste and firm texture, Hawaiian Kampachi™ lends itself to a wide variety of starter and entrée presentations and is served at the best sushi and 'white tablecloth' restaurants throughout the U.S., including Spruce (San Francisco), Spago (Los Angeles), and Carnivale (Chicago), among others.

Hawaiian Kampachi™ was featured at the most recent James Beard Foundation Dinner in New York in May, prepared by renowned Denver chef and restaurant owner Troy Guard, along with Sam Freund and Shaun Motoda. The evening's first entrée highlighted Hawaiian Kampachi™ with mango, wasabi, black truffles and myoga. Said Chef Troy, "I love Hawaiian Kampachi™ because of its outstanding flavor, sustainability and year-round consistency. It's such a versatile fish, but my favorite way to prepare it is flash seared, sashimi-style, with Meyer lemon, orange, shaved fennel, white soy, myogo and Pop Rocks!"

The fish is available twice weekly from top distributors in Hawaii and the U.S. mainland. "We've completed the business turnaround and we're now able to offer a consistent, reliable supply of healthy 5-6 pound Hawaiian Kampachi™," said Todd Madsen, president, Blue Ocean Mariculture. "We see tremendous opportunity for this high-quality, 'Made in the USA' product." For more information on obtaining Hawaiian Kampachi™, contact Sylvia Dow (sylvia.dow@bofish.com).
