Bluesocket Brings the Ultimate Level of Wireless Connectivity to Boston Area Schools

Beverly High School and Brimmer & May Leverage Bluesocket Virtual Wireless Solution, Giving Students High-Speed Secure Mobile Wireless Access

BURLINGTON, MA--(Marketwire - December 20, 2010) - Bluesocket™, the leading provider of high performing, secure virtual wireless solutions, today announced that Beverly High School as well as Brimmer and May School have deployed Bluesocket vWLAN™ as part of a digital learning environment, optimizing students' learning tools for the 2010/2011 academic school year.

Located on the North Shore of metro Boston, Beverly High School recently embarked on the construction of a new high school. The ambitious project included not only better facilities but also the latest in student technology. Beverly is providing every student with a notebook computer. With 1,300 students equipped with the latest mobile technology, the wireless infrastructure needed to be equal in performance and ease-of-use.

"The combination of the notebooks and Bluesocket wireless was a perfect fit for us. We want the best technology for our students, year over year, and we are confident that Bluesocket's solutions are future-proof and scalable," said Paul Cohen, Technology Operations Manager of Beverly High School. The flexibility of the Bluesocket solution allowed the school to integrate with their open directory server, promoting optimal usability by allowing a single login to persist all day. The state-of-the-art deployment of Bluesocket vWLAN enabled Beverly High School to be recognized by the September issue of Boston Magazine for its outstanding use of technology.

Brimmer and May School is an independent K-12 school located in Chestnut Hill, just west of Boston. Brimmer and May has a reputation for experimenting with new technology to enhance education, but five years ago, the school began to strategically build technology into their education plan. It was one of the first schools in the Boston area to implement a campus-wide wireless network in an effort to differentiate the school in the competitive private school market. "The machine count was getting higher each year -- there were more devices appearing," says Michael Langlois, Director of Technology at Brimmer and May. While the focus of the wireless network was for student access, the school noticed more and more parents taking advantage of the high speed wireless network.

Brimmer and May's decision to deploy Bluesocket vWLAN came after extensive testing of different solutions. "Bluesocket's technology was the easiest technology to use and had an extremely comprehensive security system already integrated into the solution; it was an easy decision," said Langlois.

"Technology is integral to education. But the technology has to be simple, secure, and always on. Virtualization of the WLAN allows for cost-effective scaling which is critical for schools as many students carry up to three devices that can connect to the Wi-Fi network. Bluesocket is thrilled to bring innovative networking solutions to these Boston area schools as well as other schools all over the country," said Chris Koeneman, Vice President of Sales and Marketing of Bluesocket.
