BluMont Strategic Partners Hedge Fund Appoints New Board Member

TORONTO, ONTARIO--(CCNMatthews - Jan. 17, 2006) - BluMont Strategic Partners Hedge Fund (the "Fund") (TSX:BSP.UN) announced today that it has appointed Stephen A. Stacey to its board of trustees and to hold the position of Chairman.

Mr. Stacey has been involved with the Canadian investment industry for the last 35 years, having most recently been Senior Vice-President and Managing Director, Investor Products and Services at BMO Nesbitt Burns. Stephen is also a past member of the Investment Funds Institute of Canada's Sales Practices Committee and was a member of the Working Committee on Fund Governance and Conflicts of Interest for the Steering Committee to advise the OSC regarding the Stromberg Report on Mutual Funds.

Stephen assumes this position immediately upon the concurrent retirement of David Currie from the board of trustees of the Fund.
