BMO Bank of Montreal Announces Financial Relief Program for Customers in Slave Lake

EDMONTON, ALBERTA--(Marketwire - May 20, 2011) - BMO Bank of Montreal today announced a financial relief program to assist customers affected by the wildfires in Slave Lake.

"We want to stand by our customers that are affected by damage caused by the severe fires," said Lynda Taylor, Vice President, Alberta North & NWT, BMO Bank of Montreal. "The majority of residents in Slave Lake are facing losses and we hope our relief program will help alleviate some of the difficulties."

BMO recently announced a similar financial relief program to assist customers affected by the flooding in Brandon, and also introduced a relief program for its customers who are victims of the history-making floods along the Richelieu River in Quebec.

The relief program for BMO clients includes:

  • Deferral of personal loan payments (various options);
  • Deferral of personal mortgage loan principal and interest payments for a period of two months; and
  • Special accommodations for BMO Bank of Montreal commercial and farm customers affected by the fires, which are being developed on a case-by-case basis.

BMO Bank of Montreal customers are invited to contact their local branch and speak to a financial services manager about their particular financial needs in the aftermath of the fires.
