Lee A. Tolbert Academy Students to Better Understand About Dollars & Cents

LEAWOOD, KS--(Marketwired - Apr 23, 2013) -  April is National Financial Literacy Month and it's become a welcome tradition for employees at BMO Harris Bank in Kansas City. For the past several years, the third week of April has drawn employees from all locations and lines of business within the bank to volunteer to teach school-age kids financial fundamentals during the American Banker Association's "Teach Your Child to Save Day."

More than 500 students at Lee A. Tolbert Community Academy will learn about the value of money, how to use an ATM, why it's important to have a savings account and other important banking essentials from a number of seasoned financial professionals.

"Our employees look forward to this event every year," said BMO Harris Bank Kansas City President Brad Smith. "Providing kids the fundamentals of money management is an important skill towards helping them become responsible adults."

School principal Traci Ashley said, "Our Academy is very excited about partnering with BMO Bank in educating our scholars with skills for life. We are looking forward to more community partnerships assisting with hands-on relevant educational opportunities in the future."
