BNP Paribas Appoints Gautier Dirkx as Head of Territory Canada


NEW YORK, NY--(Marketwire - September 15, 2008) - BNP Paribas is pleased to announce the appointment of Gautier Dirkx as CEO and President of BNP Paribas Canada. Gautier will be responsible for the firm's operations in the Canadian territory where the bank employs 300 people in Montreal, Toronto and Vancouver. He reports to Everett Schenk, head of Corporate and Investment Banking for BNP Paribas in North America. Gautier replaces Edward Speal who was recently appointed as regional head of structured finance for the Americas in New York.

BNP Paribas has been present in Canada since 1961 and is today, one of the largest foreign bank subsidiaries operating in the country. The firm offers a full range of Corporate and Investment Banking products in the Canadian market including capital markets, advisory, financing solutions and derivatives. Gautier will work to strengthen and further develop the bank's presence in this key region.

Gautier has spent 11 years at the group's head office in Paris, most recently as deputy global head of Commodity Finance. He joined the firm in 1997 as a senior credit officer for Structured Finance. In 2000, he was appointed global head of credit for Energy, Commodities, Export and Project finance. Prior to joining the firm, Gautier worked at both Banque Indosuez in Paris and SBC Warburg in London.
