BNP Paribas Appoints Verstraeten as President and CEO of BNP Paribas (Canada)

MONTREAL, QUEBEC--(Marketwire - Oct. 5, 2010) - The Board of Directors of BNP Paribas is pleased to announce the appointment of Ms. Anne Marie Verstraeten as President and Chief Executive Officer of BNP Paribas (Canada).

Ms. Verstraeten was most recently Head of Energy & Commodity Finance UK with BNP Paribas Fortis. Prior to this, Ms. Verstraeten served as Global Head of Energy with Fortis Merchant Bank where she was overseeing the bank's worldwide Energy Structured Finance business and Coverage of the utilities and oil and gas sectors. Ms. Verstraeten has more than 20 years of corporate and commercial banking experience holding senior positions in Europe, North America and Asia.

A graduate in Applied Economics and International Economics of the Universities of Antwerp and Louvain (Belgium), Ms. Verstraeten is Freeman of the City of London. In 2006, she received a knighthood in the Leopold II Order of the Kingdom of Belgium for services rendered to the financial industry.
