BNP Paribas Expands Latin American Economic Research Team

Hires Nader Nazmi as Senior Latin American Economist


NEW YORK, NY--(Marketwire - March 30, 2011) - BNP Paribas Corporate and Investment Banking is pleased to announce the appointment of Nader Nazmi as Senior Latin American Economist, focusing on Mexico. Nader is based in New York and reports locally to Julia Coronado, Chief Economist, North America and functionally to Marcelo Carvalho, Head of Latin American Economic Research, based in Sao Paulo.

Prior to joining BNP Paribas, Nader was Deputy Director of the Latin America Department at the Institute of International Finance (IIF) since 2004. At the IIF, Nader monitored and analyzed Mexico and other Latin American economies. His extensive market experience includes positions as the economic director of Latin America at Banc One Capital Markets and was also formerly an Advisor to the Central Bank of Ecuador. Nader also spent time in academia where he was the Chair of Economics Department at Lake Forest College, a Senior Fellow at Georgetown University, among other academic appointments. He has written extensively on international finance, macroeconomics and emerging market economies, with a focus on Latin America. He has authored a book, Economic Policymaking, Stabilization and Growth in Latin America.

Nader joins an accredited team of Latin American Economists for BNP Paribas. The team is led by Marcelo Carvalho in Sao Paulo focusing on Brazil, and also includes Florencia Vazquez in Buenos Aires covering Argentina and Chile, and Italo Lombardi, based in New York, covering economics, foreign exchange and interest rate strategy for Latin America.
