Bohac Receives "Fighter for Free Enterprise" Award From the Texas Association of Business and Heights Chamber of Commerce

Honor Stems From Bohac's Work to Cut Taxes for Small Business and Encourage Job Growth

HOUSTON, TX--(Marketwire - October 20, 2010) -  Today, State Representative Dwayne Bohac (R-Houston) was honored at the Greater Heights Chamber of Commerce meeting for his work to improve our business climate, encourage job growth and reduce taxes on businesses. Chairman of the Board Gary Van Rooyan presented Rep. Bohac with the "Fighter for Free Enterprise Award" on behalf of the Texas Association of Business.

The award recognizes Representative Bohac's pro-business voting record during the 81st Session of the Texas Legislature. The Texas Association of Business represents over 140,000 businesses of all sizes and over 200 chambers of commerce.

For Bohac, giving businesses the tools to be successful is central to maintaining a healthy business climate that keeps jobs in Texas. "Cutting taxes on small businesses, who are the driving force in our economy, was one of the most important bills we passed last session," said Bohac.

House Bill 4765, which Bohac co-authored, increased the small business tax exemption from $300,000 to $1 million. This tax cut is designed to help small businesses persevere through these tough economic times. Over 40,000 small business owners across Texas qualify for the tax break, over 7,000 in Houston alone.

"From working to improve the local economy and create jobs, to working to reduce local flooding, Dwayne delivers results at the state and local level," said Van Rooyan.
