Bombardier Aerospace Receives the Quebec Prize of Excellence in Corporate Citizenship

MONTRÉAL, QUÉBEC--(Marketwire - Nov. 18, 2010) - Yesterday, Bombardier Aerospace received the 2010 Québec Prize of Excellence in Corporate Citizenship in the Large Enterprise category.

The 2010 Québec Prize of Excellence in Corporate Citizenship awards, organized by Korn/Ferry, L'actualité and NATIONAL, in collaboration with HEC Montréal's Chair in Ethical Management, aim to recognize corporations in Québec that stand out on the basis of their fair and sustainable business practices and to reward bold, innovative ethical actions.

In 2009, Bombardier Aerospace strengthened the integration of corporate social responsibility in all areas of its organization and continued to develop new products with a reduced environmental footprint. One of the year's highlights was undoubtedly the role Bombardier Aerospace played in mobilizing all business aviation stakeholders, including its competitors, to establish a firm commitment on behalf of the worldwide business aviation industry towards the reduction of CO2 emissions.

Currently, aviation is responsible for two per cent of overall CO2 emissions. On the eve of the 2009 Copenhagen Summit, the commercial aviation industry committed to a 50 per cent reduction of its CO2 emissions by 2050. However, this commitment did not include the business aviation sector. Bombardier, as a manufacturer of both business and commercial aircraft, took a proactive approach to rally the global business aviation industry around ambitious environmental targets.

As a whole, the aviation industry has committed to carbon-neutral growth by 2020 and to a 50 per cent reduction of its CO2 emissions by 2050, relative to 2005 levels.

"Our approach is based on establishing a constructive dialogue with all stakeholders, including, in some cases, our competitors," said Guy C. Hachey, President and Chief Operating Officer, Bombardier Aerospace. "This Québec Prize of Excellence in Corporate Citizenship underscores our commitment to corporate social responsibility and our contribution to the introduction of consistent and sustainable policies for the global aerospace industry."
