"People around the world are beginning to think differently about their transportation needs and options, and are increasingly looking to rail for longer-term solutions," said André Navarri, President and Chief Operating Officer, Bombardier Transportation. "As the industry's rail technology leader, we have developed a full portfolio of proven and future-oriented city-focused public transport solutions."

"Balancing the need for mobility and the impact of the world's transportation systems on the environment, competitiveness and quality of life has become a pressing issue in all regions of the world. More and more cities, including in Latin America, are adopting new and sustainable modes of rail-based mass transportation," Navarri added.

Bombardier Transportation began establishing a manufacturing footprint in Mexico almost twenty years ago. Today, with sites in Ciudad Sahagun, state of Hidalgo and Huehuetoca, state of Mexico,it designs, manufactures, and provides maintenance services to metro, light rail, Advanced Rapid Transit, train, locomotives and other rail vehicles.

"Bombardier Transportation is the most important supplier of rolling stock in the Mexican market, with more than 70 per cent of all the passenger rail vehicles in service today in Mexico. We are delighted that ALAMYS is holding its exhibition in Mexico where we can demonstrate how our innovative rail solutions are shaping the future of mobility," said Raymond Bachant, President, Bombardier Transportation, North America.

As the world's leading provider of mass transit solutions on rail, Bombardier Transportation offers the full scope of answers to today's urban mobility challenges. The success of BOMBARDIER MOVIA metro vehicles is acknowledged by operators around the world, with more than 3,900 MOVIA metro cars ordered to date. More than 7 billion people every year use Bombardier's proven metro cars in cities from Montréal, New York and Paris to Shanghai, London and New Delhi among many others.

Bombardier also offers the industry's most complete portfolio of light rail solutions with a strong reputation for performance and reliability, having supplied 3,500 trams and light rail vehicles to approximately 100 cities in more than 20 countries. The BOMBARDIER FLEXITY 2 tram is its newest tram vehicle type, based on the highly successful FLEXITY family of trams and light rail vehicles, which were the first in the industry to combine 100 per cent low-floor technology with conventional wheel-set bogies.

Beyond rail, the innovative BOMBARDIER PrimoveCity program promises to reshape mass transportation by providing a common technology for all forms of electric vehicles, including trams, buses, trucks, taxis and cars. No other solution provides comparable benefits of charging, power, flexibility, safety and intermodality. The PrimoveCity solution utilizes inductive energy transfer from a magnetic field created by underground cables. The technology ensures reliable performance even under adverse weather and ground conditions such as snow, rain, ice, sand or water.
