Bombardier Signs $98 Million US Operations and Maintenance Contract with the City of Atlanta

MONTREAL, QUEBEC--(CCNMatthews - Oct. 4, 2005) - Bombardier Transportation announced today that is has received a 10-year contract to operate and maintain the Automated People Mover (APM) system, also known as the automated guideway transit system (AGTS), at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport in Atlanta, Georgia. The contract is valued at approximately $98 million US (81 million euros) and contains provisions for two additional five-year renewal options.

The Airport's Bombardier CX-100 system operates 20 hours a day, seven days a week, and has consistently surpassed the contract availability target of 99.5 per cent. The 49-vehicle fleet moves an average of 225,000 passengers daily between the landside terminal and the five airside concourses, with a two-minute wait time between trains at its 14 stations. Since 1980, Bombardier has operated and maintained the Bombardier-built APM system, including the supply of system expansions, a route extension to a new international concourse and 24 CX-100 replacement vehicles.
