Rail technology leader Bombardier Transportation and its local consortium partner PT INKA have signed a contract to provide ten 6-car trainsets to the PT Railink joint venture. The scope of the contract also includes two years of fleet maintenance. PT Railink was established by Indonesian railway operator PT Kereta Api and national airport operator PT Angkas Pura II.

The consortium's total contract is valued at approximately $74 million US (66 million euro). Bombardier's direct share is valued at approximately $16 million US (15 million euro).

Bombardier's scope for the project includes supplying the MITRAC propulsion system for use in the new trains as well as providing engineering, procurement and quality management support to consortium partner PT INKA. Bombardier will supply the equipment and deliver it to the Indonesian vehicle manufacturer for the final integration into the vehicles.

Jayaram Naidu, Head of South East Asia, Asia Pacific Region, Bombardier Transportation said, "We are very proud to be part of this local project to improve the connection between Indonesia's main airport and its rapidly growing capital. As always, Bombardier is committed to delivering high quality on time to PT Railink."

The trains will operate on a newly built line connecting Soekarno-Hatta International Airport's new Terminal 3 with Batu Ceper Station in Tangerang, a suburb of Jakarta, and further link the airport with existing commuter railway networks.

Another important project for Bombardier Transportation in Indonesia is the state-of-the-art, fully automated BOMBARDIER INTERFLO 150 train control solution being delivered to the Grasberg Block Cave mine in the Papua province of Indonesia.
