Real Life Stories and Odds Mix for Insightful and Thoughtful Conversations

BOSTON, MA--(Marketwire - February 24, 2010) - Every person is dealt different odds in life. Today the Book of Odds, named one of the "Best of the New" by the Boston Globe, launches "My Everyday Life," blogs from five individuals navigating the odds of their own lives.

NEWS FACTS

  • Book of Odds, the world's first provider of fun, accurate and easy to use information on the odds of everyday life, today debuted a hosted network of blogs under the banner of "My Everyday Life."
  • The five blogs of My Everyday Life will cover a large spectrum of human experience; from a medical student detailing daily hospital life, to a solider documenting his experience in Afghanistan; a working mom adjusting to an instantly larger family and work/life balance; and two singles navigating the early stages of their adult lives and relationships.
  • The blogs will run in a serial format, with each author posting a new entry on a regularly scheduled day. The five blog authors and titles are:

MONDAY: THE RE-EDUCATION OF JON PITTS-WILEY

1 in 2.08: The odds an adult has dated someone of a different racial or ethnic background.

Meet Jon. He's about to get married, take over a theater company, and figure out how to welcome an unexpected addition into his life. Whatever happened to the good old college days?

TUESDAY: 29 ACROSS

1 in 2.2: The odds a female aged 25-29 has never married.

Meet Emily. She's got a new job and a new apartment after a stint of joblessness and a brief retreat into her childhood bedroom. She's trying to negotiate the singles' scene, chart a career and figure out how to decorate a round living room.

WEDNESDAY: LETTERS FROM AFGHANISTAN

1 in 23.59: The odds an enlisted person in the United States Army is 24 years old.

Meet Alex. He likes to cook, follows the Red Sox, and listens to the DropKick Murphys. He is a Lieutenant, leading a platoon of 30 men. He lost three in the massacre at Ft. Hood. His job now: dismantling IEDs in Afghanistan.

THURSDAY: KNOCKED OFF BALANCE

1 in 31.12: The odds a baby will be part of a twin birth.

Meet Molly. She's a mom with three kids under the age of five, trying to survive with her job, marriage, and sanity intact. She once thought she could balance it all; now she is revisiting all the assumptions she'd made about her life.

FRIDAY: MAKING ROUNDS

1 in 3.37: The odds an adult sleeps 6 hours or less on an average night.

Meet Rachel. She's a third-year medical student trying to figure out what she wants to be when she grows up. An ER doc? A pediatrician? A surgeon? In the meantime she's learning how to save lives and how to handle death.
