BOSTON, MA--(Marketwire - May 24, 2010) -

  • The second iteration of launches today. Recently voted "Most Likely to Become a Household Name" at the MIT Enterprise Forum In-NOW-vation conference, Book of Odds ( continues its record of web 3.0 innovation with the beta launch of a new platform for the creation of structured user-generated data. Users can now explore topics of their choosing via a system for creating, publishing, and sharing polls.
  • Unique to this system of data collection is its applicability as a tool for self-examination. By the simple act of asking and answering questions users will begin to construct rich, dynamic, and shareable data profiles of themselves.
  • Further, users can employ Book of Odds Polls to discover hidden connections within the data. The results of any one poll can be broken down and examined by the results of any other. For example, it is possible to explore the question, "how does the frequency of sky-diving vary with favorite member of The Beatles?" Examining the results of any two overlapping polls can reveal intriguing and unexpected correlations.
  • To complement the offering, Book of Odds is moving toward tight integration with Facebook and other social sites:
    • "We want to be the place people turn to to understand their quantitative place in the world. How do I fit in, how do I compare, how can I improve my life? Am I normal? Eventually, users can see how they compare and rank across a plethora of variables." -- Ian Stanczyk, Book of Odds

"These improvements represent a first step toward greater personalization of our services -- something our users have asked for again and again. What's great is that the data we'll create as a community will be complementary to the fully vetted data created by our researchers -- this marriage will lead to some fascinating insights and comparisons thereby increasing the value of the whole." -- Amram Shapiro, President and CEO
