Bosch Encores as the 2010 ENERGY STAR Partner of the Year Award for Appliances

Annual Award by the U.S. Department of Energy and the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency Recognizes Commitment to Energy Efficiency

HUNTINGTON BEACH, CA--(Marketwire - March 1, 2010) -  For the second year in a row, Bosch Home Appliances has been named the ENERGY STAR® Partner of the Year for Appliances by the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) and the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). The award recognizes Bosch for its outstanding contribution to reducing greenhouse gas emissions by manufacturing water- and energy-efficient appliances and helping to educate consumers about the ENERGY STAR program

"Today, EPA is recognizing Bosch for taking the lead in addressing climate change through their commitment to energy efficiency," said Gina McCarthy, EPA Assistant Administrator for Air and Radiation. "Bosch is producing and promoting products that have earned the ENERGY STAR, showing customers that together, we can increase our nation's energy efficiency and reduce our emissions of greenhouse gases."

Last year alone Americans, with the help of ENERGY STAR, saved $17 billion on their energy bills and reduced greenhouse gas emissions equivalent to those of 30 million vehicles.

"Environmental responsibility is woven into the DNA of the Bosch brand -- from green manufacturing practices to efficient appliance performance. Winning ENERGY STAR Partner of the Year Award for Appliances two years in a row is a particularly meaningful honor for us," said John Farley, senior brand and environmental marketing manager, Bosch home appliances. "Thanks to the 40th anniversary of Earth Day, and the State Energy Efficient Appliance Rebate Program (SEEARP), energy efficient appliances will be in the spotlight this year. Together with ENERGY STAR, Bosch can empower appliance shoppers to make educated decisions that help the environment and reduce utility costs."

Bosch is the only US appliance manufacturer with entire product lines of ENERGY STAR qualified dishwashers, washers and refrigeration. The efficient Bosch appliance lineup features:

  • 800 Plus Dishwasher: The 800 Plus uses as little as 2 gallons of water per cycle, 70 percent less than the average dishwasher, and operates on only 180 kWh/y of energy, an industry best.
  • Vision Laundry: Vision features the most energy- and water-efficient brand of full size front load washers in the U.S.
  • Linea Refrigeration: Linea side-by-side refrigeration features Eco and Vacation cooling modes to help reduce energy costs compared to continual operation in standard mode.

Committed to providing appliance shoppers with the latest information, Bosch is on Twitter (@BoschAppliances) and Facebook (facebook.com/BoschAppliances) and connects followers and fans to the latest ENERGY STAR updates. To support the SEEARP program, Bosch launched the Bosch Rebate Resource Center (www.boschappliancerebates.com) as a one-stop-shop for ENERGY STAR rebates and additional manufacturer, retailer and local incentives.

The 2010 Partner of the Year Awards are given to manufacturers and retailers that successfully promote and deliver ENERGY STAR qualified products, saving consumers money and reducing greenhouse gas emissions. Award winners are selected from more than 17,000 organizations that participate in the ENERGY STAR program.
