Bosch Home Appliances Supports ENERGY STAR Program's Higher Standards and Increased Testing

Manufacturer Recently Named the 2010 ENERGY STAR Partner of the Year for Appliances

HUNTINGTON BEACH, CA--(Marketwire - March 23, 2010) -  Bosch home appliances, the only U.S. manufacturer with entire product lines of ENERGY STAR® qualified dishwashers, washers and refrigeration, applauds the announcement by the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) and Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) that they will be third-party testing the most popular lines of home appliances and strengthening the standards for manufacturer certification and compliance.

Bosch rigorously tests its clothes washers, dishwashers, and refrigeration units for energy and water efficiency. These products are engineered to exceed ENERGY STAR's already high standards, and in many cases, the even higher 2011 standards. Bosch continually shares its testing research with its ENERGY STAR partners at the DOE and EPA to fully prove its compliance submissions.

"For decades, Bosch has been committed to manufacturing appliances that set the standard for quality and efficiency. We will fully support the DOE and EPA's efforts to make the ENERGY STAR testing and certification process as efficient and transparent as possible," said John Farley, senior brand and environmental marketing manager, Bosch home appliances. "The end result will be a better educated customer who will be empowered to make purchasing decisions that are both financially and environmentally responsible."

Bosch's proven track record for ENERGY STAR promotion led to the DOE and EPA naming Bosch the 2010 ENERGY STAR Partner of the Year for Appliances. Bosch received this second-consecutive honor at a Washington, D.C. ceremony last week.

Bosch's ENERGY STAR-qualified products include:

  • 800 Plus Dishwasher: The 800 Plus uses as little as 2 gallons of water per cycle, 70 percent less than the average dishwasher, and operates on only 180 kWh/y of energy, an industry best.
  • Vision Laundry: Vision features the most energy- and water-efficient brand of full size front load washers in the U.S.
  • Linea Refrigeration: Linea side-by-side refrigeration features Eco and Vacation cooling modes to help reduce energy costs compared to continual operation in standard mode.

The nation's attention is focused on upgrading to energy efficient appliances thanks to the State Energy Efficient Appliance Rebate Program (SEEARP) and the 40th Anniversary of Earth Day.
