Boston Software Systems and SoftMed Systems Announce Partnership

Workflow Automation and Integration Software Will Enhance EMR Solutions

SHERBORN, MA -- (MARKET WIRE) -- June 13, 2006 --Boston Software Systems, the leader in workflow automation technology to the healthcare market, today announced a partnership with SoftMed Systems, a leading provider of healthcare information solutions. Under the agreement, SoftMed will use Boston Software Systems' scripting technology, Boston WorkStation™, to enhance single sign-on and patient context capabilities in several of its electronic medical record solutions.

The single sign-on authenticates a user to access all the applications he/she has been given clearance to view using one name and password. This eliminates future authentication prompts when the user switches applications during a particular session. SoftMed's use of Boston WorkStation will also enhance the company's patient context capabilities, enabling easy interoperability between vendor systems. For example, facilities that use SoftMed's Patient Financial Services (PFS) Document Management system, a document capture and storage solution, will now be able to easily retrieve data with just one single keystroke. This allows facilities to create electronic versions of external patient accounting records and store them in one location for referral and retrieval.

Other SoftMed products that will benefit from Boston WorkStation's technology include ChartView®, which provides instant access to patient data, ChartScan®, which captures documents electronically, and Department Imaging, which electronically creates and manages business and operational documents across the hospital enterprise.

"Healthcare facilities are grappling with constant deadlines for HIPAA compliance, as well as the pressure to maintain electronic medical records and improve the operational flow of the business," said Don Segal, CEO of SoftMed Systems. "Integrating Boston WorkStation's scripting and workflow automation technology into our products has an immediate impact for our customers. By focusing on proper internal controls, health care organizations will not only be able to apply best practices for regulatory and industry directives, but more importantly, maintain better performance in the long run."

"Boston Software Systems is proud to be partnering with SoftMed to streamline workflows related to the security and functionality of its EMR solutions," said Steve Cohen, executive vice president of Boston Software Systems. "As healthcare providers adopt EMR solutions, it is imperative that they maintain patient security. Boston WorkStation's universal interoperability enhances SoftMed's ability to identify and authenticate users in only one step, resulting in fast and secure access to patient information at any time from any location. Boston Software Systems is committed to providing our partners with the tools that allow their customers to deliver the highest level of patient care."
