SHERBORN, MA--(Marketwire - April 29, 2008) - Boston Software Systems™, the leader in workflow automation technology to the healthcare market, today announced that Ken Carter has joined the company's senior management team as chief technology officer (CTO). Carter will be responsible for overseeing and managing the development efforts of Boston Software Systems' flagship technology, Boston WorkStation™ and UNISON™ as well as new products.

"Ken's experience in software technology across the healthcare, financial, manufacturing and commercial industries, as well as his keen business leadership, will be invaluable to us as we continue to expand our product line and partnerships," said Sara McNeil, president for Boston Software Systems. "Ken's breadth and depth of knowledge in the latest technologies will help us explore the most appropriate growth avenues to provide competitive products to the market. His experience complements that of Rich McNeil, the original developer of Boston WorkStation technology, who will continue to play a key role in the design and development of our products."

"Boston Software Systems helps the world's leading healthcare organizations automate basic tasks and complex processes, enhance revenue cycle management, reduce medical errors, as well as maximize its resources," said Carter. "Its innovative Boston WorkStation technology has become a standard at the intersection of these critical technical, operational and business initiatives. By addressing the gaps that exist between applications and systems, Boston WorkStation is saving customers weeks of work and thousands of dollars. I look forward to successfully contributing to the company's growth strategy with the enhancement of current offerings and development of new products."

After five years, SPII then merged with a business intelligence (BI) organization forming a new data warehousing and BI product and services company called Obvient Strategies.

Carter was also practice manager of enterprise technical services for Blackbaud, Inc., a software and service provider serving the non-profit sector. He also founded and served as principal and chief architect of a custom software and services provider called True Elevated Solutions, LLC.
