Boston Software Systems Unveils UNISON

Automates Dictionary Synchronization for MEDITECH Hospitals; Eases Scripting Workload by 100 Percent

SHERBORN, MA -- (MARKET WIRE) -- August 22, 2006 -- Boston Software Systems™, the leader in workflow automation technology to the healthcare market, today introduced UNISON™, a stand-alone dictionary synchronization product designed for MEDITECH hospital information systems (HIS). Built on the proven Boston WorkStation™ scripting technology, UNISON allows IT staff to completely automate the tedious job of updating any departmental data dictionaries. UNISON simplifies script development. By reading the live table and then writing the contents to the test table, UNISON ensures all records are fully and accurately synchronized without spending hours of costly programming time.

Shortly after being introduced to UNISON, Cathy Ogden, manager MEDITECH Financial Implementation, Catholic Health Initiatives -- NITC said, "What a great product! UNISON truly is going to save us a ton of work! The nice thing is that you don't need to be an expert because the product is very easy to work with. Within an hour of being introduced to UNISON we wrote a very complex B/AR sync!"

UNISON addresses the ever-critical need to maintain current data records in all departments. Having accurate physician lists, or billing and accounts receivable (B/AR) records also addresses the demand for quality care and effective communication among healthcare providers.

"Synchronizing any departmental dictionary in MEDITECH is labor intensive, taking as much as 30 hours of senior level technical expertise to complete complex syncs such as the B/AR and Provider dictionaries," said Sara McNeil, president of Boston Software Systems. "With UNISON, the users will need 20 minutes to create the process of automating dictionary synchronization and then they may run the sync in real time or schedule it to occur regularly without human intervention. This represents another way that Boston Software Systems enables hospitals of all sizes to operate more efficiently and ease the pain of stringent technology demands."

UNISON easily automates the synchronizing of any departmental dictionary that uses MEDITECH. UNISON provides an easy-to-use setup wizard that allows the user to select what specific data is required from the first dictionary, then walks the user through the process of updating a record into the second dictionary. Using Boston WorkStation's rules-based scripting technology, UNISON develops a reliable sync that will accurately perform the synchronization automatically. The sync may be run in real time, or scheduled to run at any appropriate interval. Any exceptions are written to a file.

Availability & Technical Requirements

UNISON is available for MEDITECH Magic and MEDITECH Client Server. UNISON is a fully stand-alone application and does not require a Boston WorkStation license to operate. It must be installed on a PC, running a Microsoft Windows-based operating system.
