Boston to Welcome 16 New Brunswick Entrepreneurs This Wednesday

One-of-a-kind event Sales Optimization and Venture Capital event to combine international sales training, networking with potential investors and opportunity to forge business ties with New England

FREDERICTON, NEW BRUNSWICK--(Marketwire - Nov. 15, 2010) - A diverse group of more than a dozen people from across New Brunswick will take part in a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity from Nov. 17 to Nov. 19 thanks to an initiative funded by Community Business Development Corporation (CBDC) Southwest and the Atlantic Canada Opportunities Agency (ACOA).

CBDC Exchange Venture Capital will take 16 entrepreneurs to Boston on Wednesday for a three-day Sales Optimization and Venture Capital event that will teach the required skills to achieve success in sales globally, open potential new markets for their products and services and make connections with potential US investors for their businesses. The businesspeople represent sectors ranging from ICT to manufacturing.

"Investment opportunities from the United States are not dead," says Robert Bowles, Executive Director of CBDC Southwest and co-founder of CBDC Exchange Venture Capital. "The US equity market is rebounding as is the appetite to invest. We need to capitalize on this change and continue to support our local entrepreneurs with opportunities like this week's trip. This event will help grow their businesses and our province will benefit from that."

Co-hosted by Derby Management of Boston, the event will see attendees take part in training on topics ranging from understanding sales optimization and leverage channels to understanding online tools and applications that assist the sales process. Training will be lead by sales experts as well as special guests from major New England-based businesses and organizations. Entrepreneurs making the trip will also network with venture capitalists and learn how to take advantage of business opportunities in New England.

According to the New England Venture Capital Association, there is more than $50 billion in venture capital managed by New England venture capitalists.

"There is a huge opportunity to tap into venture capital investment from New England," says Bowles. "We need to act on that opportunity and the time to act is now."

The Sales Optimization and Venture Capital event is that latest effort of CBDC Exchange Venture Capital. A division of CBDC Southwest, CBDCX connects New Brunswick-based growth companies with the equity financing they need. The initiative is co-funded by CBDC Southwest and the Atlantic Canada Opportunities Agency.
