Boston's LearnLaunch Accelerator Features Five Breakthrough Edtech Companies at 5th Annual Demo Day

Financial and Strategic Investors See New Technologies to Improve Student Learning in K-12 and Higher Education

BOSTON, MA--(Marketwired - Jun 15, 2016) - LearnLaunch Accelerator, a startup program at the forefront of education technology, is hosting its fifth Demo Day at District Hall in Seaport, South Boston, MA today. Entrepreneurs from five edtech startups that took part in the accelerator's Breakthrough Program will pitch to a packed room filled with more than 200 angel investors, venture capitalists and education leaders.

The Breakthrough Program is designed to help early-stage education technology companies by providing guidance and access to strategic partners and financing entities. In addition to the Breakthrough cohort début, 11 LearnLaunch Accelerator alumni companies will present their updates and accomplishments from the past three years.

The LearnLaunch Accelerator program is now in its fourth year and has attracted edtech startups from across the globe. Tackling some of education's toughest problems, each of the startups that took part in the Breakthrough Program received access to services, office space at the LearnLaunch Campus, and mentorship from educators and successful technology and education entrepreneurs and investors.

"The Breakthrough Program tested our ability to both find new funding sources as well as help solve bigger company problems," said Liam Pisano, Managing Director of LearnLaunch. "Working with companies with existing customer bases forced our team to aggressively look for ways to help maximize pipeline, find new distribution channels, and better serve them as investors. We're extremely pleased with the results of the short form program and will duplicate the effort going forward."

The companies graduating from LearnLaunch Accelerator's Breakthrough Program are:

Chalk Talk (Boston, MA & Amman, Jordan) - Chalk Talk has developed an innovative online platform that helps secondary school students in international markets -- starting in the Middle East -- perform better in high school math, English reading and English writing.

Riipen (Vancouver, Canada) - Riipen is an experiential education platform for post-secondary institutions that connects industry to faculty and their students so that, upon graduation, they can have the employable skills and relevant experience necessary to start their careers.
