Bow Valley Power: Alberta Power Company Generates Benefits for Customers and the Environment

CANMORE, ALBERTA--(Marketwire - June 1, 2011) - Bow Valley Power, an Alberta power company based out of Canmore, launched its partnership with Alberta Conservation Association (ACA) as a Corporate Partner in Conservation.

The partnership marks Bow Valley Power's commitment to environmental sustainability in Alberta and was celebrated with an initial contribution of $500 dollars. Bow Valley Power, as part of the agreement with ACA, will make regular contributions, which includes 20 percent of the company's yearly profits.

The contributions will support the ACA Enhanced Fish Stocking Program. "This program has brought exciting recreational opportunities to families and avid anglers to parts of Alberta where these opportunities do not exist." explains, Ken Kranrod, Vice President, ACA. Each year, designated water bodies prone to winterkill are stocked with thousands of 20 cm rainbow trout – all while maintaining the integrity of Alberta's natural waters and fish populations. Established in 1998, ACA is a not-for-profit, registered charity that directs more than $10 million towards conservation efforts, delivering a wide variety of projects across the province that include Wildlife, Fisheries, Land and Communications. ACA's mission is to conserve, protect and enhance fish, wildlife and habitat for all Albertans to enjoy, value and use.

Bow Valley Power supplies electricity to residential and commercial customers throughout Alberta and is committed to contributing a significant portion of our profits towards environmental sustainability.

Bow Valley Power differentiates itself with competitive rates (both variable and fixed options), a paperless office, and dedication to the environment. There are no costs to switch, signing up is done easily online and there are no long term contracts. Unless the customer states otherwise, contributions from profits generated in the Bow Valley area (Banff and Canmore) will be contributed towards the Biosphere Institute. Profits generated throughout the rest of Alberta will be allocated to ACA.
